Do you remember the first time you fell in love?

 

My first crush happened way back in 1991. (Yep I’m THAT old)

Robin Hood was a box office smash and the airwaves were filled with Bryan Adams crooning “Everything I do” for 16 weeks straight.

It was the summer of LOVE but my heart was not beating for Bryan or Kevin Kostner in his olive green tights.

My inner rebel had been roused and my heart had been stolen instead by…

An Italian brand named Benetton.

I come from a long line of rule breakers, so you could say that this love affair was written in the stars and it definitely lead me on a path to where I am today.

The OG maverick aka. my Mum, had decided to open a chain of Benetton stores in our local area. It was the 90’s, times were good and retail was booming.

I quickly fell head over heels with Benetton’s clothing, message and marketing. For the first time in my life I felt the power of a brand relationship and I was hooked.

Their boundary-pushing advertising images of nun’s kissing and coloured condoms covered my textbooks and every inch of my bedroom walls.

This was a brand with a purpose and a vision to ‘Unite the World’ and I was excited to join the movement.

A few years and a few love affairs later (most of them were skinny boys who wrote poetry and smoked pot) I finished my Fashion and Branding degree and started on the first rung of corporate life in London.

For more than a decade I devised strategies for some of the worlds biggest brands like Nike, Levis, Billabong, Red Bull and IBM. And, I got to know storytelling, tribe-building and sales conversion like the back of my hand.

I loved the late nights, tequila shots, creative craziness and the thrill of devising innovative campaigns for big-name brands.

But like all great love stories, the object of my affection changed once my two babies were born and I suddenly felt the pull to escape cubicle nation on the search for more freedom, more meaning and more money in my own back pocket.

These days, my late nights and lack of sleep are courtesy of my two active and rebellious kids (karma!) and since 2014 I’ve been helping passionate business owners reject the status quo to spark a rebellion with their message and make an impact with their words.

My business exists to show you how to find your own Brand Anthem, turn it into powerful content & attract a tribe of loyal fans.
